Big Sister Fashion Show Revere Hotel

I was honored to be asked to participate in the Big Sister Fashion show at The Revere Hotel on March 4, 2015. Ben flew in from LA and just made the practice run that Omid Maxey from Safar was coordinating. We walked the runway together as a husband and wife team. Ben was kinda gun-shy since he was definitely not in his normal element. He’s used to speaking in front of thousands of people, but not walking runways! Nonetheless, he looked stunning in his Rag and Bone shirt and J Brand skinny jeans from The Tannery and his custom kicks from Concepts. I think our pal Jason Varitek was also wary of this new type of gig, because a runway is very different than a batters box, but his wife Catherine, gave him the boost he needed to walk the runway, and he did a fine job! His 50 shades of gray suit was a perfect complement to Catherine’s royal blue flirty Milly dress with ruffles. The stylists had paired it with these gorgeous black strappy booties, which sadly had to be changed last minute because the toe bed was cutting into Catherine’s toe! It was so lovely that the Variteks came all the way from Atlanta to participate, and we got to surprise Catherine with a birthday after party at Sonsie afterwards!

Scott Brown and his wife walked the runway in Scott’s own tuxedo and a gorgeous green ball gown. BFF Nelly Carreno, NECN lead meteorologist, wore a sexy black and white strapless jumpsuit which she ended up taking home after the show! All of the looks were styled by the Bloomingdales team in Chestnut Hill, a talented set of women who know clothes and know what looks well together! Lots of Alexis Bittar accessories, Prada shoes, and Milly dresses filled the runway. I was unable to do a fitting in the store beforehand because of my crazy travel schedule, but was pleasantly surprised when I saw the dress the stylists had chosen for me. It was a gorgeous A-line fitted bodice neoprene dress by Milly in black and white geometric print. It kinda reminded me of the dress I wore to my rehearsal dinner in Martha’s Vineyard. They paired it perfectly with a petite pink handbag that fell easily across the chest, and an Alexis Bittar gold chunky statement necklace.

Jenny Johnson was getting her makeup touched up by makeup sponsor Nelse Karini, and later emceed the night and wearing a gorgeous Clover Canyon green neoprene dress with laser cut neckline, A-line cut skirt and fitted bodice. The emerald green complemented her eyes and skin tone perfectly. Also wearing Clover Canyon was TV Gal Bianca de la Garza, she stuck with a backless neoprene fitted dress in the signature Clover Canyon print. Lisa Pierpont chose a rocker chic look, with black leather fringe on the sleeves and cropped black pants, but broke it up with her detached her yellow gold purse strap fashioning it into a necklace, and holding the yellow purse as a clutch. The duo Jessica and Alisa went sporty chic—Jessica donning the Crane and ** line of sportswear which I ended up going home with the pants of…(needed some non flare pants because my lululemon flare pants were not cutting it in Flybarre!). And Alisa donned a beautiful tea length floral skirt with a rocker jacket and under it instead of a crop top, she wore a sports bra also from Crane and **.

Friends Sofia Ostrer and Shannon Pastuzurak, who are current active supporters of the organization asked us to participate in the show and we were glad we said yes, because it was such a fun crew of people and we had the best time backstage as well as at the after party, where Ben signed copies of his books and a portion of the proceeds was donated by Harvard Bookstore to the Big Sister Association. Kudos to the Big Sister organization and the Host Committee for raising awareness, and raising money to help keep the programs for the little sisters going!
